I was born in Denver, Colorado
and spent my youth either enjoying the great outdoors of this state with the Boy Scouts OR inside taking apart computers and other electronics and putting them back together again.
My professional career began in high school
when I was hired by the Daily Camera newspaper in Boulder to write video game reviews. I wrote for a large audience as a regular columnist in the entertainment subdivision. I developed my skills for succinct writing and tailoring my voice.
Before and during my gig with the Daily Camera, I worked for video game retailer, GameStop, behind the register and on the sales floor. I learned how to sell and developed key relationship skills.
For college, I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. I started in journalism, but eventually found my niche in communication. I explored the philosophy of communication in "Human Communication Theory" and my Organizational Communication seminar. I learned the fundamentals of marketing in “Persuasion in Society” and applied my newfound knowledge in a summer internship performing social media marketing for Innovative Openings. I graduated with a B.A. in Communication.

After graduating college
I went right to work for a global engineering firm called Stantec in their "Creative Services" department. My job as a Proposal Specialist was to create compelling, client-focused marketing materials - primarily RFP documents for contracts ranging from $100k up to $70 million in value. The majority of my time was dedicated to proposal management, which includes drafting proposal outlines, collaborating with internal-clients to develop sales messaging and strategy, assigning sections and driving schedule, and extensive file formatting, organization, and database management. I also wrote and edited content within the proposal.
Yearning to flex my talent muscles and stretch deeper into my passions, I started to look where I could add greater value in the marketplace. I began making money on the side through freelance writing, and working on my own personal development blog, friendlywarrior.com. While participating in the digital space, I noticed that many of my favorite Denver businesses were failing to utilize the immense power of their social media profiles to engage with current and potential customers.

So, I started my own business
by combining my love for small & local businesses with my education and work experience in social media marketing. I decided to make it my mission to help these types of companies harness the power of social media by building a strong bridge between the physical and digital worlds. This means authentic connections with people, which turns one-and-done customers into life-long ambassadors for the products and brands I help promote.
